Make it together

  1. Find a few flat, dry leaves outside with an adult. Avoid any unknown or irritating plants.
  2. Put one leaf vein-side up on a flat table and lay a sheet of paper over it.
  3. Hold the paper still and gently rub the side of a crayon across the leaf.
  4. Switch to another color and leaf to make a whole garden of patterned prints.

Try this next

Count how many veins and leaf shapes you can spot. Try overlapping autumn colors for a collage.

Safety note: Wash hands after collecting leaves. Avoid poisonous plants, sharp thorns and unknown berries.
